Optimizing SiC MOSFET Chip and Packaging Design to Match Specific Application Requirements
Choice is ubiquitous in America; however, one exception is choices in power semiconductors. In the past, the market was dominated by two options: silicon fast switching IGBT's for UPS systems and low conduction loss IGBT's for motor drives. Today, with the massive growth in the power semiconductor market, different chips are required to match the needs of specific applications. This tutorial will discuss different aspects of SiC MOSFET chip and package design choices, and how they can be matched to the real-world requirements of different use cases, for example avionics, servo drives, solar, traction drives, EV chargers, and energy storage.
